Noire Salon is a multi-specialist hair, waxing, and skincare studio based in Philadelphia. While the salon already had an established website, it no longer supported the way clients interacted with the business or reflected the level of professionalism experienced in the studio. As the salon expanded its services and team, the website needed a clearer user experience, improved navigation, and the ability to support online sales beyond basic service information.

The goal of this project was to enhance the existing website’s usability while introducing e-commerce capabilities that would allow clients to purchase service packages, gift cards, and retail products online. The solution needed to feel intuitive for clients, scalable for the business, and flexible enough to support future growth.

Challenges

The original site presented several UX challenges. Service information was difficult to scan, booking pathways were not clearly defined, and the site lacked functionality to support prepaid services or digital products. From a business perspective, Noire Salon was missing opportunities to generate revenue online and reduce friction for returning clients who wanted to maintain regular service routines.

Additionally, with multiple specialists offering different services, the website needed to guide users more effectively—helping them understand what to book, how to book it, and how online purchases such as service bundles or gift cards could be redeemed.

Approach

The project began with a UX evaluation of the existing website to identify pain points in navigation, content hierarchy, and booking flow. Based on these insights, the information architecture was refined to create clearer service categories and more intuitive user pathways.

The website was redesigned in WordPress using Elementor, allowing for a flexible, component-based layout that could evolve with the business. Special attention was given to mobile responsiveness, ensuring that clients could easily browse services, make purchases, and interact with the site from any device.

WooCommerce was integrated to support the sale of service packages, gift cards, and retail products. Product pages were thoughtfully designed to clearly explain what clients were purchasing, how service bundles work, expiration terms, and redemption details. This approach reduced confusion and aligned the digital experience with the salon’s in-person service model.

Throughout the process, accessibility and usability were prioritized to ensure the site was welcoming and easy to use for a wide range of clients.

Outcome

The redesigned Noire Salon website delivers a significantly improved user experience that supports both booking and e-commerce. Clients can now easily explore services, purchase gift cards or service packages, and engage with the brand before ever stepping into the salon.

From a business standpoint, the site now functions as a revenue-generating platform rather than a static marketing presence. The addition of online service packages and gift cards provides new income streams while improving convenience for loyal clients. The refined UX and clear content structure help guide users toward action, supporting higher engagement and smoother booking interactions.

Overall, the project successfully transformed Noire Salon’s website into a modern, scalable digital experience that reflects the quality, care, and professionalism of the brand—supporting both client satisfaction and long-term business growth.
